As a guide who wears a size 14 boot, finding gaiters that fit properly was a very hard endeavor. Having tried multiple brands, I wasn’t happy with the durability and fit. I first saw ape gaiters on someone I trusted within the guiding industry and decided to shoot Alec a message. He took my measurements and had the gaiters at my door within the week. These gaiters fit perfectly. From moose hunts in wetlands to high alpine sheep hunts, these gaiters have endured and kept my boots and pants from abrasions and feet dry. I have worn them ice climbing and mountaineering with crampons and can say with certainty that they have saved my calves and pants from accidental crampon tooth penetration. These gaiters are built with expert level craftsmanship and materials. Not only will these gaiters last, but Alec is a stand-up guy who understands the importance of quality gear and stands by his product. Alec has a passion for making great gear and the outdoors and I’m proud to call him my friend.

Ape Equipment gaiters fill a gap in the market, which has numerous choices of generic gaiters, but lacking the premium fabric technology and custom sizing that APE offers. Perfectly sized, light, waterproof, breathable and durable all make these gaiters stand apart from the rest.
I used these gaiters in British Columbia, Wyoming and Montana this season. From torrential rain to knee deep snow these things kept my boots dry and held up to everything I could throw at them
I’m fortunate in that I get to run and test a wide array of gear and of all the gaiters I have worn, I can say with zero hesitation, the Silverbacks from APE Equipment are my favourite. The fit, fabric selection and build quality are superb
Been using the Silverback gaiters exclusively for last 2 years I cannot say enough good things about them. Extremely ruggedly built, have withstood the test of time and very easy to put on and off. They are a deal for what he charges. Highly recommend them to anyone wanting a serious set of gaiters
